This is a quick and dirty look at the growth deals – including total figures for the full period up to 2021 and per capita awards. (These latter figures do not take account the issue of overlapping LEP areas.)
Looking at the per capita LGF awards it is clear there is varying performance. West of England (with £199/head) and Leeds City Region (£194/head) come out top – with Greater Birmingham lying in the top 5. Surprisingly Swindon and Wiltshire and Hertfordshire are equally in the top 5.
At the bottom is London coming in at only approximately £29/head. So rebalancing is occurring. Perhaps surprisingly and not good news is that Stoke and Staffordshire comes in the bottom five – lying 35th – at £75/head.
There is a link through to the spreadsheet – (click on it) for further analysis. Any errors are mine apart from there appear to be minor addition errors for Greater Manchester and Sheffield City region when it comes to the total investment expected.
